October 19, 2008:
Beppe Gambetta
This uniquely masterful guitarist has been declared a "flatpicking monster (with) superhuman grace" by Pulse Magazine; we are delighted to welcome him to Woods Hole for the first time. From his roots as musician in love with American country and bluegrass as well as the traditional music of his native Italy, Beppe has traveled the world to dazzle music enthusiasts everywhere, sharing the stage with David Grisman, Doc Watson, Norman Blake, Bela Fleck and many others. He is known for surprising his audiences with unexpected stylistic blends, which he calls "strolling music... intolerant of frontiers, unaware of classification." As Taylor Guitar Co. puts it, "He's an almost unnaturally gifted flatpicker and fingerstylist, and personable to a fault -- a charmer who soon has even the most reticent audience in the palm of his hand."
