May 2, 2010: Brian Peters

Brian Peters We're thrilled to welcome back one of England's finest traditional folk song performers. "A multi-talented musician who just seems to get better and better" (Folk Northwest), Brian Peters brings together passionate singing with masterful playing on concertina, button accordion, and guitar. While specializing in the great ballads of the British Isles, he also captivates audiences with songs he has written in the traditional style, and with excursions into ragtime and blues. Brian is recognized "through his research, playing and teaching of rare tunes" as a mover of Northern English dance music. He teaches instrumental and singing techniques at festivals worldwide, and reviews English and world music for magazines such as "The Living Tradition." Several reviewers rate his most recent "Different Tongues" CD as his best ever. Join us to hear Brian plunge deeply into the spirit of old English songs and deliver them to us with a fresh twist.
