Martin Grosswendt
Described by David Bromberg as "one of the best fingerpickers I ever heard," Martin Grosswendt has been an understated presence on the folk and traditional music scene since the 1970s, accompanying top artists in recording studios and opening for some of the biggest names on the touring circuit. A multi-instrumentalist and singer specializing in early blues styles, he is equally at home with old-time Appalachian music and the Cajun and Creole music of Southwest Louisiana, which he plays with the RI-based band Magnolia. Martin accompanies his singing with intricate fingerstyle and bottleneck guitar as well as five-string banjo, mandolin, fiddle, bass, Cajun accordion, and Dobro. He is a rare bird these days -- no web site, and nowhere to buy his highly acclaimed CD "Call & Response" but at his concerts. His last appearance in Woods Hole was three decades ago -- don't miss this one.
