November 29, 2009: Alan Jabbour & Ken Perlman

Alan Jabbour and Ken PerlmanWe're pleased to welcome back this extraordinary instrumental duo. Alan Jabbour is a masterful fiddler and widely respected folklorist whose collecting activities spurred the international revival of interest in Southern old-time music. Ken Perlman is a pioneer in the melodic clawhammer 5-string banjo style and a fingerstyle guitarist in old-timey, Celtic, blues and ragtime traditions. Considered one of the top clawhammer players in the world, Ken is known in particular for his adaptations of Celtic tunes. He draws his material from traditional sources in Scotland, Ireland, the American South, Cape Breton, and Prince Edward Island where he completed extensive folklore research. Ken and Alan met while on staff at Colorado's Rocky Mountain Fiddle Camp, and their instant musical bond led to collaborative concerts as well as a joint recording project. Don't miss the exquisite technique and sparkling interpretations of these two masters.
